  1  Time moves on, don’t it?

  2  Last year school got out a week earlier, so this is a strange one.

  3  It feels like we should have already BEEN out, but alas.

  4  Anyway, this will be the last DN until next year. = /

  5  Feels weird.

  6  This holiday you must be sure to enjoy some fun things.

  7  Here’s something: The California Theatre began its $5 movie nights last night, so you missed Singin’ in the Rain.  I had forgotten all about it until the night before last when I looked and saw the sign on the theatre.

  

  8  Ah vell. Here’s a quick overview of their fun Special Holiday Film Program:

  Advance tickets for the Christmas Eve screening of It’s a Wonderful Life are now available at the Stanford Theatre’s box office in Palo Alto, and will be sold at the California Theatre’s box office beginning on Tuesday December 18.

  9  So there ya go. A rather handsome cut ‘n’ paste. Here’s your chance to go into the California on a cold winter night and to enjoy a classic.

  10  I love that It’s a Wonderful Life is somehow special, because that’s what I’m showing to my Honors Students today. Many have never even seen it.

  11  In fact, the teacher who teaches the same class borrowed it from me to show to her classes, and SHE had never seen it!

  12  And My Fair Lady. Bernard Shaw. Critics have either loved it or hated it, but I’m a huge Shaw fan, and I love My Fair Lady.

  

  13  S-h-h-h-h. Don’t tell anyone I said that. But truly, My Fair Lady is a beautiful piece, lavish and intelligently done with almost all of Shaw’s words from Pygmalion intact.

  14  Ah, ya gotta love it. Wizard of Oz is downright weird, always, but I loved staging it all those years ago. And I’m dying to get out and to see Wicked some time in the next century.

  

  15  And I will always be a fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and The Sound of Music has Julie Andrews tossed in.

  

  16  Ah, yes, these are a few of my favorite things.

  17  So…Christmas in the Park, Downtown Ice, the California Theatre in all its epic glory, It’s a Wonderful Life, indeed.

  18  It’s Christmas in San Jose, and I’m off for a few weeks. We shepherd in the San Jose Youth Ballet’s Nutcracker this Saturday and Sunday. Google for details, but it’s live at the Chill, and is an amazing production.

  19  And baby it’s cold outside.

  20  Have a lovely Christmas.

  21  I’m on Holiday. I fully intend to get quite cheery.

  22  So the DN for 2007 is put to bed.

  23  May you and yours have a wonderful holiday, and an even more wonderful life. Enjoy your families and your friends. You’ve all earned it.
