The Daily News1 I loves me some 2 a.m. baseball.
2 I loves me some because yesterday was an exhausting day, and I conked out early.
3 For those of you who don't know, each year I becomes me a raving insomniac.
4 I try not to, but teaching requires the ability to be working almost around the clock.
5 It isn't unusual.
6 Our students do "all-nighters" all the time.
7 It's like a badge of courage.
8 I NEVER do all-nighters.
9 But I do nap at around 8 or 9 p.m. and then awaken for a couple of hours before going back to sleep.
10 When I awaken I often check emails and things that might be coming at me when I wake up.
11 I also often write the DN in the middle of the night.
12 Well, I don't really write it.
13 It writes itself.
14 So this thing is writing itself right now while I'm watching the end of the Giants' game.
15 CSNBA offers that. Probably stems from a team that wasn't hitting for the past four years. Baseball for all-nighters.
16 It's tough to stay awake.
17 This year the Gigantes hit much better, especially on the road. The games are more interesting, but I still have a tendency to doze, especially knowing I can awaken in the middle of the night and watch the game on CSNBA.
18 I'm guessing that the station doing that cuts down on the amount of people needed to keep the station on all night too, which is a bit unfair, but it works for me.
19 I actually tried watching the end of the game last night, but it was through one eye, while the rest of my body kept going to sleep. Eventually that eye closed, and I was a Sleeping Beauty.
20 I loves me some sleep.
21 Moving on, Part the First: This is what causes one to two teevees to be blaring in the middle of the night.
22 It's always a bit surreal.
23 Fortunately for my neighbors, it is never as loud outside as it seems inside.
24 I try to keep the volume low, but once the rest of the world goes to sleep, a teevee or a radio can sound awfully loud.
25 Moving on, Part the Second: The Giants' magic number is suddently 13. Last night's game almost made them a shoe-in to win the division.
26 Arizona has done a dandy job of kicking the Dodgers around.
27 The scary thing is that the Dodgers are somehow right up in the wild-card, so Giants' fans, they are like the red-headed schoolboy who won't go away.
28 Well, I'd rather be where we are than where they are, with their Yankee team.
29 Just sayin'.
30 And the A's are making it awfully fun across the Bay.
31 Gonna get interesting.
32 Meanwhile, life moves on, as does time.
33 Moving on, Part Three: Some McDonald's commercial just came on with this awesome looking burger:
34 I almost went outside and got one.
35 Then I thought of what it would look like at this hour.
36 I almost posted a picture of one. Decided against it. Nobody needs to see that.
37 Moving on, Part Four: It's about time for me to put this baby to bed.
