  Longest short-week ever.

If that makes any sort of sense.

Let's hear it for a hearty Thursday.

  Hip hip!

  <crickets>

  Well that worked.

Okay, to me Wednesday was the literary equivalent of Stretch Armstrong. It was long and boring.

  Oh.

I did not mean to disparage the fine products of the Kenner Stretch Doll Corporation, nor any of its affiliates.

 It's just that...

 Well, yesterday, for example.
I just thought I'd do images, and try to catch a pic of the Stretchman.

  Egads.
I found that this stretch-doll whatevs named Stretch Olivia Octopus 9" is now open for bidding on ebay. Opening bid: $975.

I want me some of that.

You only have to sell one.

The rest of the suckers who buy Ms. Stretch Olivia have also to sell only one.

Here's a peek at Stretch Olivia Octopus 9:

  Just between us?

I want to be the first to buy one and up the anty to $10000.

You only have to sell one.

Moving on, Part One: While baseball is as good as it gets right now, I can't help but think about the A's Brandon McCarthy. Right now his condition is critical, but he does have a skull fracture following his getting hit in the head by a line drive on Wednesday.

It puts a lot of everything in perspective.

Good luck and lots of prayers to him and to his family.

Moving on, Part Two: When I said this was the longest short week ever I pretty much meant it. Wednesday, for example, was three days.

And yet yesterday when I sat down to write today's DN, it seemed that I just finished "writing" last Friday's DN, which was one of my favorite DN's ever.
I liked it because it wasn't really written.

But it took longer to put together than many others. I just wanted a montage of happiness.

It took forever to chose all of the pics, and then the computer gave me all sorts of trouble, but in the end, it was a blast.

For some reason, Internet Explorer made the page huge.

  Ah, whatevs.

  So it goes.

  I thought it was fun.

Moving on, Part the Thoid:  So...Joe South walks into a bar...

Joe wrote a ton of songs, his most famous perhaps being his 1969 hit "Games People Play."

A lot of people don't know that South was a sideman for such notables as Aretha Franklin, Tommy Roe, and Bob Dylan.

While he composed many marginal hits, the most interesting to me is the Deep Purple hit "Hush." Great piece of trivia.

So Joe, wherever you are, thanks for the songs.

  More music in heaven.

Moving on, Part Four: So here we are, staring at yet another Friday.

Remind me never to turn on the morning news on a Friday.

  Whew.

It's almost more than I can stand.

Some guy kidnapped his kids and then STOLE a yacht.

   Is it just me?

Or is this guy the stupidest man in history?

That's pretty desperate, and you have to worry about those kids.

I just sit here sometimes stunned at things like that.

   Moving on, Part Five:  Dayum.

Sorry about that one. That was tenth in a series of ridiculous news stories this morning.

I think I'm ready for Friday, and for a weekend where I just might not watch any news at all.

   It is once again FRIDEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

   So let's live life.

   Love life.

   Stay safe.

   See you again.

   Peace.
