GO GIANTS!!!!! World Series,Baby!!!!!
The Daily News1 GO GIANNNNNTS!!!!!2 Best statistic so far in this mad, mad, crazuh world: Last night I found out from KNBR's F.P. Santangelo that the Giants' batting average against Cliff Lee, the Rangers' starter tonight is .270!3 If you are a baseball fan, you have to KNOW that we can get this guy, and if we GET this guy, it might prove to be a VERY interesting World Series.4 If you are not a baseball fan, you should still tune in, because this is possibly THE team to finally bring a world championship to the Bay Area. If you want to become a Giants' fan, now's the time. Buy a copy of today's Merc News, and there is a cheat sheet on the front page for people who want to join the fun! I don't see that as bandwagon, I see it as recruiting. ; ) <---------sideways winky dude5 Older players are smiling and chuckling at the irony.6 Why?7 Because some of the greatest teams in San Francisco Giants' history have never managed to bring a world championship to the Bay Area.8 "You ain't seen nothin' yet." -- F.P. This comes to us from Bruce Newman: "The Giants are 27-13 since Aubrey Huff started wearing a rhinestone-encrusted red 'Rally Thong' under his uniform, but to his credit, when he booted that grounder in game 5 of the NLCS, he didn't say it was riding up on him. If the Giants fall behind during the Series, will Huff observe the ballplayer tradition of reversing their 'rally caps' and turn the thong around?"14 Haha!15 Interesting coincidental sidebar: I was contacted the other day by me good old friend and confidante Thuy Ann Le to help edit some things she needed, so last night I got one job out of the way. I hadn't heard from Thuy Ann in a while because she's been ridiculously busy.16 When she was the in charge of the Seniors in '05, Elton John's Your Song slowly became the anthem of the class. It was played at the Senior Ball at a key moment, and it was eventually our graduation exit song. To me as class advisor, that song will always remain special.17 This morning I turned on the Murph and Mac show on KNBR, and they played a brand new song. They have played different classic rock songs and changed the words to fit various Giants' players.18 This morning they played a new song that was a tribute to Huff's thong.19 The title:20 Your Thong.21 Hilarious.22 Anyway, just another coincidence in a week that ALWAYS has coincidences, this one certainly a little bit funny.23 Or a whole LOT funny!24 Somebody told me that Coit Tower is lit orange, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. I believe it, because they lit it green when Wicked first opened.25 Speaking of landmarks, Murph and Mac discussed landmarks of both teams. I think it was Pauly Mac who said, "Which is better, Murph, the GG Bridge, or the Texas School Book Depository?26 Low blow.27 They then reported that the grassy knoll in Dallas has a sign on it that says, "grassy knoll".28 For those out of the loop, JFK was killed in Dallas, and the alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, purportedly shot Kennedy from the Texas School Book Depository.29 There are those who believe otherwise, that the shots came from a grassy knoll area, and blah, blah, blah. We'll save that for another day. I solved that mystery years ago. No one cares.30 Anyway, it's WORLD SERIES time, and the San Francisco Giants throw down tonight against the Texas Rangers.31 I can't say much, but old-time Giants' fans say that there's a feeling out there that this is our year, that the team that has had names like Mays, McCovey, Clark, Bonds, etc. (I'm leaving a few guys out due to lack of room, but you get the drift) NEVER won a World Series.32 And then along comes our Band of Merry Misfits, and we seem closer than McCovey's almost hit that almost won it once, a long, long time ago.33 And game one is TONIGHT!34 So no matter WHO you are, you gotta root for the orange and black. I'd root for the Raiders or A's if they were there. It's the Bay Area, baby!35 And it is OUR Giants, the craziest batch of goofballs and young guns you'll ever see assembled.36 So I'm gonna deck it out tonight and have me a time. You oughta come along for the ride, 'cuz it's gonna be TORTURE!!!!!37 So I'm hearing Copland's A Fanfare for the Common Man telling me that it's time.38 Gottago.39 GOOOOO GIANNNNNNNNNNTS!!!!40 Celebrate.41 Peace.~H~
