    1  Well it's WENZDAYYYYY!!!

    2  Who's down?

    3  That's my Facebook talk.

4  Dude's, the week is officially goin' into the WEEEEEEEEKEND!

    5  Yay.

6  Hope yer all havin' a ROCKIN' week. I sure as heck am.

7  Can ya tell I hadda good day yesterdeeeeeeee?

    8  Rip it, yo.

    9  Well!

    10  Ain't THIS refreshing!

11  Just hadda GREAT day yesterdee, and wish to throw those vibes out there to me peeps.

    12  Haha!

    13  "Me peeps".

14  I'd better duck while duckin' is in vogue.

15  Moving on, Part the First: Aight beotches, baseball officially begins preseason TODAY!

16  Ask me if I care.

17  You dang right I care.

18  I worked in sports my entire life, and with all due respect, my absolute FAVORITE sport is baseball, hands down.

    19  I KNOW, I KNOW.

20  Football is a close second, but it has so few games in the season that it is over too fast.

21  Basketball I obviously love, but was never really raised with the Warriors. They were always there, but my family wasn't fanatical about basketball. But baseball...

    22  Baseball.

    23  Dude.

24  162 games, not including pre-season. You get stuff like the '54 catch and throw by Mays...

25   I worked for the Giants and the A's for years. Well, to be honest, I ALSO worked for the college teams, both Cal and Stanford; all the local football teams, including Cal, Stanford, and SJSU, as well as every classic rock band that has ever done a stadium act in the Bay Area:  Pink Floyd, U2, The Grateful Dead, Journey, Foreigner, The Who, Wham! (lol!) Greenday, Metallica,The Rolling Stones, and a billion others, too numerous to mention. Technically, I worked for the companies they hired, but still, I was definitely around stadiums, and sports in particular for many years. Baseball was always my main game, so I developed love of the game, and of my Giants in particular.

26  They begin their Spring training this morning. Timmeh Lincecum is throwin'.

27  I feel like I just stole a frantic base on a basepath called winter.

    28  SAFE!

    29  Baseball dude.

    30  Today.

31  I'm totally ready for Spring!

    32  Who's ready?

    33   Ha!

    34   Luv ya'llZ!!!!

    35   Have an immortal morning!

36   Enjoy the peace of the rain. Drive distant from one another; the streets are slick, so be safe.

37   And then listen to the rain.

    38   Peace.

  • MEET JAKE STUPIDHEAD!!!

    The Daily News
    1  Tuesdays.

    2  We've been thru this.

3   Where do we even BEGIN?

    4   Ah, I won't.

5   I'm experiencing a pretty darned good March so far.

    6   Hope you are too.

7   Is it me, or did March come in pretty stealthily this year?

    8   It's like suddenly March!

9   I think we were all goofing on the Olympics, so it was an awesome distraction, and all of a sudden, we are into the always interesting and enjoyable, at least to me, month of March.

10  AND there have been fool moons lately.

11  That was a deliberate play on the word "full".

12   Oh, how CLEVUH I am, right.

13   Haha, nothing like idiotic puns. Trust me, nuttin' clevuh about them.

    14   Yeesh.

    15   Holy mackeral.

16   Moving on, Part the First:  The teevee seems to be showing me moments of that teevee show The Bachelor, with some guy named Jake and his Ruthless Brother starring.

17   Things like The Bachelor make my teevee a glorified lava lamp.

18   It's sort of like every now and again, when I'm completely bored, I watch this idiotic show from a distance, and then get back to tacking away at the DN.

19   This guy somehow lives in a place with a pool that generates sexy waves, and this Jake guy jumped in with some Barbie who was dumped, and instantly the two of them started gyrating with the waves in his pool.

20   Pretty soon, a whole buncha people started jumping in, as though the angels in heaven couldn't control themselves over this soulmate thing.

    21  Weird, weird show.

22   The parents of this guy Jake, ALREADY worried about Jake's Ruthless Brother, asked the Barbie a few questions, and it was obvious to me that they hated every moment of it.

23   Then the Sisters of the Boy (SOB's) jumped in and clearly hated the Barbie girl.

24   World's stupidest show, almost bar none.

25   But when there is NO news, then the news is awesome. Consistent theme in the DN, sort of like the need to eliminate Tuesdays.

26   Well, I've probably culled enough news to make the DN somewhat worthwhile, I'm ready to throw in the towel, since it's Tuesday, a day that I fundamentally don't wish existed at all.

27   So once again, in the week when the grades deadline hovers, I shall gracefully bow out, turn off the idiotic lava lamp, and jump into headier things, like Brahms, or at least, of pondering the reasons for neckties.

28   My guess is that they protected shirts from food slop.

29   THAT'S how uneventful last night was.

    30   Show your Tuesday today.

31   Of course, I LOVE the day.

    32   So should you.

33   I'm keeping it short on purpose.

34   Have a decidedly lovely day.  I sure as heck will.

    35   Peace.

  •   O, Canada!!!

    The Daily News
1   Funny what two dollars and forty-nine cents can do for a guy.

2   That's what I spent recently on a net for the basket in front of my place.

3    I had one of those rims that had about a four-inch piece of net left clinging on it, and decided to go to Big 5 and splurge a little. I hadn't shot a bucket in months. Every now and again I'd chuck a ball through the thing, but often couldn't tell if it went through or not.

4    Magically, when I attached the new net, the entire thing came alive. At first it worked as anti-magnetism, seeing to it that no ball would come anywhere near the net, but after I took a break, analyzed my shooting, and adjusted, I started plipping in lots of baskets. It was great fun, and I got some extra exercise, which I sorely needed this week.

5   The tough thing about being a tad older these days is that I could shoot fine, but my ankles get sore really fast. That began when I first started swimming, and made my ankles thinner, but they also started to smart a little.

6   The wonderful thing about being a tad older is that I get absolutely elated about spending two dollars and forty-nine cents on nothing, and can get SO much from it.

7   In my younger days, I used to shoot buckets at small parks, just to get some exercise. It was always my favorite form of exercise next to swimming, and I would do that for hours. It sounds sorta boring, I know, but to me it was totally Zen.

8    It was great to return to the ways of the olde days. I still glided up and made some fun shots. Just got a little sore.

9   Moving on, Part the First: With all the madness of the Olympics, March Madness, baseball pre-season, and everything else, you'd think I would be targeting other things for the DN, but not really.

10   I of course have to once again appreciate the Olympics, and the Closing ceremonies. I also think that Canada has a perfect right to enjoy the hockey victory. It if were us, we would have united over the reincarnation of Cinderella, and you could bet that there would have been dancin' in the streets had the USA won. Let's appreciate vicariously the goodness that happened to Canada in Vancouver.

11  Moving on, Part the Second:  The Chilean earthquake hit all of us unexpectedly, and the magnitude made the head swim. I had immediately looked to Red Cross of Silicon Valley, and got developing news. When I get something good and solid, I'll let you all know the best resources to help out. They first had a number you could call to get info about friends and family, but at the time, it would default to Haiti, which is fine, but for people who want news now, not as efficient as we might like. I'll fill you in as soon as I get solid info.

12   Moving on, Part the Third: I'm sure I will return to more Olympics stuff. At this writing, the closing ceremonies have yet to occur, and it is tough to report stuff without staying glued to the teevee all night. with all due respect, that ain't happening!

13    Meanwhile, our lives continue to move through all the madness, courage, and twists and turns that the many Olympic stories mimic.

14    What fun, what absolute pleasure.  I should mention here my absolute admiration for Bob Costas and Al Michaels, two of the most extraordinary sports' announcers in our time, for doing a wonderful job. Costas' salute to Neil Young, still rockin' the free world after all this time, was a nice touch. Young sang beautifully, for an old coot. Long may you run, Mr. Young. Young was born in Toronto. What a great Olympic moment.

15    These Olympics remain true to the wonder of the classic Olympics, despite all criticisms. Once they're over, we all become more appreciative of the very special moments that happened.

16    Bottom line is that we saw the people who dedicated their lives to sport, and contributed to some of the best moments in sports' history. You have to raise a glass.

17    In any genuine competition, all emerge as winners. Salud!

18    Moving on, Part Four:  Well, back to reality.

19    Somehow this week got booked up when I wasn't looking. Ever have that happen? I said "yes" to a lot of things, and all of a sudden I need a calendar. And YES I am old school. I don't have an electronic reminder sorta thing because really, I'd prefer not to be reminded of things through electronics. I still cling to the fact that I need to keep my mind active. I'll jot things down on a paper calendar, but having electronic reminders isn't my thing.

20   I don't think my cell would do that anyway. It is an older one, and can't even take pictures.

21   I really should update it, because it seems not to keep a clear signal. Yesterday when arranging some things with my Dad, I had to walk around in circles trying to keep talking to him.

22   Anyway, busy week, that's for sure.

23   Busy ain't necessarily bad, but our grading period ends this week, and that is never pleasant. It is always a race to the finish, with tons of papers to be graded, and a relentless deadline.

24   I'm ahead this time, for a change, so that's a good thing, but I also have lots to do, lots to do.

25   I hope you guys have a good week, beginning this fine morning.

    26   Live life.

    27   Love life.

    28   Fly low.

    29   Peace.
