1   I decided to put a cartoon monkey hugging a banana out there because, well, it’s fine time.

2  There’s just too much bad stuff happening, and I think we need a Jack Johnson sorta smile today.

    3   Banana Pancakes.

4   This began yesterday morning when Caitlin showed me the proper way to peel a banana, based on a video of a monkey holding a banana upside down, then squeezing the top, which pops the peel, and then they peel down.

5   I thought it was amazingly simple and ingenius to study a monkey in order to learn the correct way to peel a banana.

6   The monkey perfected it, and it was just after Caitlin enlightened me that I made this startling observation:

“The simple banana is the world’s most perfectly packaged food.”

                                                                                           —Bud Harrington

7  It isn’t exactly Emerson, but really, the entire meal is simply THERE for you.

8   You gotta respect a monkey to teach us how to do things.

9   Now if we could just pop on a little Jack Johnson and assemble an infinite amount of these fellows…why it boggles the mind.

10  Caitlin is my daughter and genius extraordinaire!

11  I wish I had half her ingenius brain.

12  How I went through my entire life not knowing the proper way to peel a banana is beyond me.

13  And the solution, like most solutions, stares one right in the face:

    14  Ask a monkey.

15  Moving on:  I know that there are literally thousands of artistic teevee shows gracing our collective unconsciousness, but has anybody out there checked out Cougar Town, starring the inimitable Courtney Cox?

16  Absolutely hilarious! I’ve always been a huge fan of Friends, and ALWAYS thought that Cox, Aniston, and Kudrow were arguably the three funniest chicks in the history of teevee.

17  Friends to me was the Beatles of sitcoms.

18  And those three were the three most talented comedic actresses ever. Maybe it was their chemistry, but I think it was raw talent.

19  Don’t get me wrong. We had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and The Golden Girls, but really. And yes, Saturday Night Live had its share, but not in the sitcom category.

20  Well, I’m lovin’ Cougar Town. Cox brings it, and brings it with her usual wacky gusto.

17  BOLD statement, considering all the Lucy Ball fans out there, but seriously.

18  Moving on, Part the Second: Well! I had a jump on this DN, then returned to grading papers. As always, I conked out midway through, and had my first major bout with insomnia last night when I awakened at 2 a.m.

19  It’s always then that everything on the computer starts to go wonky.

20  Fortunately, I was able to fix things, like shrinking fonts, bold commands not working, that sort of thing.

21  Takes some patience and not being afraid of not getting back to sleep on a Sunday night/Monday morning.

22  I usually just relax for around an hour or two, knowing I already have a few hours behind me. Go online and goof around looking at cartoon monkeys, or some such nonsense.

23  What I should do is record a lecture I give.

    24  That’ll put anyone away. ;  ) <———sideways winky dude

25   Anyway, been pretty bizzy lately, so all apologies if you haven’t heard from me. Grading papers is a grand thrill, let me tellya. Does wonders for one’s social life.

26   Hope to get out a bit this week. I’m half-way done with all my grading, with the grading period deadline next Tuesday, so I may have some cloud time.

27   Meanwhile, you have a great Monday. Peel a banana and appreciate the organic art that occurs.

    28   It’s Monday.

    29   Fly low.

    30   Peace.
