The Daily News
So yesterday morning while out to breakfast, my daughter Nicole mentioned that she has not one, but TWO students named "Zen" at the school where she works. We laughed, and thought it was an interesting name. I looked up, and a guy had just come into the restaurant. He had on a T-Shirt that clearly read, "Zen...". I couldn't read any other letters, but it didn't really matter; it was a great coincidence.
Later on, I went up to visit my Mom. She was pretty tired and was sort of jumping from topic to topic during that agonizingly l-o-n-n-n-n-g Giants/Bums game, when she looked over at me and asked, "Have you ever had things like you think of someone and then they walk in the door?"

I told her rather enthusiastically, "ALWAYS! It's almost embarrassing to report it it happens so often! I believe there's a little angel named Heidi who follows me around and sees to it that I'm in touch with all of that."
I don't remember a time in my life when my Mom ever asked me that question, and I've really never talked to her about Heidi.
Strange days, indeed.
Moving on: I thought it was interesting that last week we lost two guys named "Dom": Dom DeLuise, about whom I wrote, and Dom Dimaggio, the brother of Joe Dimaggio.
Moving back: Okay, so I'm moving back to the Heidi thing, because I just remembered the beginning of a Heidi thing from last week. Sparky and I were doing lights and sound for a Ballet Folklorico in our theater last week, when a guy came in after intermission with a shirt that said Heidi on, big as day. Black shirt, large white letters. Seemed WAY out of place for a Folklorico presentation. I completely forgot about that until I wrote about yesterday's coincidence. It's probably too far apart to count as a Heidi trip, but it did follow that.
It's funny because I had the radio on as I wrote this morning's DN last night, and I will SWEAR that right after I wrote Dom Dimaggio's name, that I heard the word "Dimaggio" on the radio, but it was some guy's name. The story had to do with Rwanda, but I didn't really catch the name. I'll see if there is a Dimaggio somehow connected with that.
I don't want to reach, but I could swear to you that just happened. It might not have, or I might not have heard the name clearly. The Zen guy with the T-Shirt clearly DID happen, as did the Heidi T-Shirt last week and my Mom's random comment yesterday.
Well, I'm pretty exhausted. Going up and visiting people can get kind of tiring, and that game went on forever. It was worth the investment once I got home, because I got to see my Mom and Dad, AND the Dodgers LOST! It's nice that the Giants WON, but I always LOVE when the Dodgers lose.
I heard Kuiper or Kruk report that while Manny Ramirez getting busted for using illegal substances was sort of fun for Giants' fans, that it is something that we should just ignore, and all that.
They reported a lady who called them and said that we had to sit there and listen to all the stuff everyone said about Barry Bonds, so she would like to go up on her roof and give the entire southern part of the state a huge moon!
I laughed, except that I have a LOT of people I really like who live down there. I did like the concept of all things Dodger getting mooned, however.
Fun stuff.
All I said when the Dodgers killed us on Saturday was, "So. We're going to win the series."
And we did.
Sorry. I get into baseball from the first pitch to the last pitch of the season.
So have a great Monday everybody.
Fly low.
Life's better than you think.
You deserve good today.
Peace.
