You'd think I'd actually be excited about the demise of Manny Ramirez of the Dodgers for being busted for steroid use, but really, I just can't.

After having been throught he absolute horror of Barry Bonds, I actually sympathize with what Dodger fans are going through.

SO sad, especially after all that has happened. It would appear that the "problem" hasn't yet fixed itself. The game I always loved keeps turning over more rocks, and more creepy, crawly things keep emerging.

Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio?

I mean, I grew up with a lot of respect for Dimaggio, even though I discovered that he was not the nicest guy around, but he never stuck needles up his ass to pump up his statistics.

I'm always a bit hypocritical in this area, and would really love to do as most people do, which is to pretend that it doesn't really exist. All the good ol' boyz do that, and we continue to cheer thest imbeciles on.

   All are punished, I imagine.

I usually take great joy in rubbing things into the faces of Dodger fans, but in this instance, I simply can't.

Besides, in my own hypocritcal way, I have five coffee containers in a cubby right behind my desk. If I don't have two cups in me by the time I hit the lecture circuit, I believe I'm useless. I sip coffee during down time in my classes. Isn't that a bit of "performance enhancement"?  I haven't made it this far in teaching on fresh fruit and exercise, that's for darned sure.

  Ah, vell.

  Ain't that America?

Ah yes. And there's winners, and there's losers; that ain't no big deal.

  Little pink houses.

   Indeed.

Moving on:  It's almost been a normal week for the first time in around two years. I have not had too much to do, and all the tension that normally swirls around has subsided. I'm winding down my online courses and have given fewer assignments here at the end of the year, so it's starting to look like a more normal cycle is finally settling in.

I still have massive insomnia. All you have to do is look at the hours that the DN gets posted and you'll see instantly that I still get riddled with the heebz and the jeebz in the middle of the night. Last night I awoke at midnight, which was perfect. I had around three hours of sleep already, and enough alertness to throw some boushit to my online classes as well as writing the good ol' DN.

And it's FRIDEEEEEE!!!! Weekends have been short as of late, but I still celebrate them There's a certain liberation to Frideeeez. I know I have something to do in the theater tonight but for the life of me I can't remember. I thought we had a Faculty Follies tonight but I was off by like two weeks.

So I have this Sinatra schtick all dressed up and nowhere to go. I'll probably bring it up to my Mom's house at some point this weekend, since Sunday is Mother's Day.

  Mom's rule.

So have a nice weekend. It will be a pleasure to watch the Giants, and no matter what else, I still love the sport. People who don't "get" baseball will never get it, but those of us who know, well, know. We tend to feel sorry for people who don't get it.

Anyway, none of that means much to a tree.

  Enjoy your weekend.

  Be safe.

   Peace.
