The Daily News
So...Jack Kemp walks into a bar...
Unique guy, former quarterback for the Rams who went on to be a Repub.
Ever do that?
Like read somebody's obituary and sort of brush it off?
Every single obit is a life. I always remember that, and it's always interesting when I read them.
First off, once I don't KNOW the person I honestly don't give a shit about them.
So technically, I should simply skip that page in the paper and look for real news.
But I can't help taking a peek. Where did that picture come from? I don't have any pics like that. The guy was born in 1920 or something. The guy's entire life is summed up in an obit. They should have a company that makes obit pics, the same way that you have to pose for prom pics. Some of those obit pics are hideous.
And if you have lots of money to throw around, you can get a really nice write-up.
But honestly, I have no idea why I spend time cruising that page.
Morbid interests, I suppose. Also, twice in my life I've been surprised to find someone I know IN there!
Weird, lemme tellya.
But certainly something to think about as one moves on.
Speaking of which...
Time to move on.
Moving on: I "ran" the SOS 2K yesterday and loved it! Our school represented tremendously, so I was pretty proud! We've raised almost $25,000 as a school to help in the effort to end stupidity. My feet are a little sore tonight, but other than that, it was a GREAT little jaunt.
Moving on, Part the Second: Afterwards I shot up to my Mom's house to visit and to wish her a lovely birthday! She looked great after all she has been through! Someone threw some pretty ribbons on her and she looked either like a fairy from A Midsummer Night's Dream, or a flapper girl from the 20's. Either way, it was cool! Lotta pink! It was nice visiting and enjoying a laugh. Her birthday is actually today, so Happy Birthday, Ma!
Of course, I had a lot to eat following the 2K run, and during the Giants' game I conked out, like into a deep sleep.
I had a dream that Zito pitched two-hit ball and had the Rockies flustered, but then I'm going senile, as there's no chance in this life of the next that Zito could do anything but maintain his bumness in my eyes.
Anyway, I think I'm going to try to get to sleep tonight before 11 p.m., which would be a record for me.
So Happy Birthday Mom!
And to everyone who ran, thanks for supporting sports in the ESUHSD!
Overall, a goodly feat, although my feet are still mightily sore.
Meanwhile, live life, love life.
Peace.
~H~
