The Daily News
A teacher sent this to us. It is a real paper. Thought I’d share it. This kid had to do this final in detention because he refused to take it in class. It’s about Brain v. Brawn in The Odyssey. She gave him 30/100 for creativity and entertainment. Enjoy (or don’t!).

The true story
Whur do we begin Odyssey’s was a smart man – very smart indeed. He was so smart he dified the gods. He was so so smart he was king.
What made him smart? I did some research and it say he was raiessed by Jesus??? now If Im corected Odyssey’s could’ fly but the gods said he would be to powful so they took thw power back. Odyssey had 2 sisters and 1 brother they were never shown – he was just a smart man notin else.
One day he o caused out posiden and they never talked after that. word on the street was Odyssey out smarted pasiden making him beleow hews a half god. All of a suden he has to fight in a war.
when the war is done he heds home. Posidan wants him never to return so he puts him on islands to have non stop sex over and over again. eventally his crew die from same sieses or something like that. He finally goes home old style and shots some people because he didn’t like them.
In the end, he dies from old age. hes son rules his place now. He neve ever mentioned his friends again. He died a legioned. He was super smart.2 I’d have given the guy an 85.
Ya gotta love it.
I can’t even imagine…
Time to Cinco de Mayo.
I always LOVE Cinco de Mayo. It’s always a pretty fun day, and I always spend time listening to a little Madiachy and eating Meheeecan musica.
I even started early. Yesterday I was recovering from too much sugar on the dos de Mayo, and I was all sluggish and not into Monday. At lunch, I went to this small little place by the Chill and ordered a hot bowl of menudo.
Menudo is an acquired taste which I acquired a long time ago, so it was absolutely hot, and had all the extras: onions, cilantro, limes, oregano, cheeeelez, and home-made tortillas.
Mid-day on a Monday, that stuff was TRUTH.
And that was only on the QUATRO.
I heard a coupla teachers the other day, rookies whotalked about a Mexican restaurant where they actually served tongue.
The other teachers were all, “EWWWWW!!!!”
I smiled. I’m a huge fan of lengua, even though I totally understand why it would drive other people crazy.
It was sorta funny because the girl who served me the menudo kept checking on me, like I might not know what it was I was getting myself into.
I knew EXACTLY what I was getting myself into.
The Miracle of Menudo.
I started goofing on how much we are blessed with a multi-cultural town.
I remember one time going into Tacos al Carbon at King and Story and ordering brains.

Hey, I NEEDED brains back then!
Anyway, they came with onions, cilantro and a lemon.
I wanted to leave town after I had eaten them.
They were horrible!
But I do love menudo, and in fact, I love trying new culturally rich dishes.
It was funny though to see those teachers thinking that tongue was something that only aborigines eat or something.
They had no clue.
I do have a clue. I knew that in the Mexican culture, you eat every part of the cow, and then some.
People still say, “EWWWW!”
But offer them a piece of salami and they won’t blink. Or hot dogs. Or sausages.
You get the idea.
Have a great Cinco de Mayo.
Peace.
