The Daily News
Bea Arthur, 1922-20091 So...Bea Arthur walks into a bar...2 A golden girl, indeed.
I loved that show. Great writing, great acting.
I never, ever turned it on though. It's the type of show that someone else is always watching, and you walk in and sorta plop on the sofa. It was always a hoot, still is.
Anyway, there's a familiar face.
Moving on: It looks to me like the Sharks have the Ducks right where they want 'em. We have an entire Nor-Cal, So-Cal thing going on tonight, so it'll sure be interesting to see what happens. Edgar and the G-Men are playin' demz Bumz, so it'll be vicious as always.
Yesterday's game was so great until the last inning. What the heck happened?
That's the beauty of baseball. You get over it pretty quickly early in the season.
It still bums me out when we lose.
Moving on: It bums me out when I lose too. I had been awaiting yet another week of straight-A work, which would have been sixteen weeks in a row for me, when I got a message from my teacher that I had done an assignment completely wrong last week, and that my grade would suffer unless I adjust it in the next two days.
I looked back over it, and saw that I had made a major error, so in the midst of doing one paper for this week, I had to call the gal and see if I could get an extension, which she gave me. I was already cramming to crank out another paper when that doubled the load, and our grades are all due on Tuesday afternoon.
Talk about the moody blues...
Anyway I almost had a heart attack, literally last night when that happened. I had spent the entire week grading papers, planning classes, and doing seven assignments for that class. I've been chained to the computer every night until 1:30, including last night, and for THAT to happen...yeesh.
I'm glad I haven't had to go to college the past four years. I know exactly what my former students who are now in college are going through. I appreciate what my daughters had to go through to graduate with honors. I haven't stopped and STILL almost got a bad grade despite going full force with it all.
I almost quit, I swear to you. But my family backed me, and I got back up and finished that sucka.
And now, of course, I'm a nervous wreck that everything I've done is going to get a lousy grade. Talk about obsessive.
So I'm not out of the woods yet by any means, but did conquer a small hill that seemed like Everest earlier.
Everest. That reminded me that the Beatles were going to call Abbey Road Everest originally. Word was that one of their mates, Geoff Emerick used to smoke Everest "ciggies". The idea was that they were going to fly to Mt. Everest and take a picture.
A few years back some website or other claimed to have the picture, but it's long gone, and clearly wasn't the real deal. Here's one I found:
Cool concept. This may actually BE a real album for all I know. What it looks like is an album of tunes they wrote inidividually, and many after the band had broken up. Looks like a pretty cool mix, with the exception of The Long and Winded Road.
Did I say "long-winded"? Musta been a slip.
Musta.
Well, looks like it's massively late and I have to somehow jump through many more hoops before tomorrow night.
Enjoy the weather.
I'm not so sure this time I'm gonna make it.
We'll see.
Meanwhile, live life, love life.
Peace.
