So...
What a sad day for baseball yesterday. Nick Adenhart pitches the game of his life, goes out for dinner with some friends and a drunk driver going 60 mph runs a red light.
Some stories, boy.
On top of that, one of our own San Jose Giants made it to the Show and pitched the ninth in yesterday's Giants/Brewers game. With two outs, he delivered a pitch to the Brewers' centerfielder Mike Cameron, who shot the ball back with tremendous velocity directly at Martinez's head. The ball bounced off his head, causing bleeding near the temple area as well as from his nose. He stumbled and then fell.
They rushed him to St. Francis hospital in San Francisco, where as of last night, he was up, talking, and was even able to call his family. There were no broken bones, so as of right now it looks like Martinez is going to be okay, but it sure was a moment that froze time.
We all wish Joe and his family the very best. Here's a pic of him when he threw for San Jose:
Go get 'em tiger.
Moving on: I missed the Giants' opener as well as the Sharks game last night, but I did manage to get out to Municipal Stadium last night to watch the San Jose Giants. It rained all night, so by the 6th inning I was too soaked to stay.
I KNOW, I KNOW!
First I conked out on Opening Night of the Giants' game the other night, and now I wussed out at the San Jose Giants' game.
I'm still shivering, but it was a grand night. I sat in the cheapest seats in the park, the view of which at AT&T Park would probably be upwards of a hundred bucks. My cost: ten bucks. If I hadn't been so lazy, I could have gone straight to the stadium and gotten in for five bucks.
Anyway, it was baseball, and it was awesome. The Giants were winning two-zip in the top of the sixth. I don't really know if they wound up winning, but I sure am becoming a quick fan.
Great stuff, especially considering the ridiculous amounts of work the old online college class has been dishing out lately. New teacher, ridiculous expectations.
I may NOT wind up taking classes in CIA training.
Moving on, Part 2: Our Spring Break begins, well, today! I have to pull through a few classes and a birthday party, but as of tonight, I'll be technically free for a week!
Of course, the break also gives the DN a rest.
It could use one. All this extra work has had a deleterious affect on the DN, where I've found myself corpseing out at my computer. I'll be right in the middle of writing this and nod off. It's been vicious, but something in me KNOWS that the DN must get through, and neither rain, sleet, nor gloom of night should ever stop it.
Don't ask why, 'cuz I have no theory whatsoever.
So you all enjoy a lovely weekend, a happy Easter, and all the best next week.
When I return, it will mark the true beginning of Spring, as well as the beginning of the end of the school year!
So go out there and love everything you can.
There's still a lot of good out there.
And uh, don't be afraid to enjoy a little of the bad!
lol, roflmao, ttyl.
Yeesh.
Peace.
