a time 1 Harold Lloyd a check 1 newsboy The Daily News

First off, let me welcome everybody to Frideeee!!!

Second, as always in this business, some guy decided to send a buncha talcum powder letters to our school, followed by creating a huge Nazi sign on our lawn, and then cutting down trees that rumor has it are each designated for an envelope recipient.

  Sounds pretty grim, honestly.

And yesterday, my last class of the day came in with all sorts of stories about the trees that had been felled, and of the Nazi sign, and of the threats and all.

My response was pretty simple: “This is all rumor mongering, and more than likely not true at all.”

  Period.

Some knucklehead is trying to feed the paranoia of threats to an entire school.

My feeling, as well as the administration’s feeling is that whoever did this was clearly angry and a bit misguided, but that there is no point to giving the guy more press, since that is probably what the guy (or girl, forgive me!) thrives on.

Anyway, if you’ve heard stuff like that, it’s all probably someone’s vain fantasy.

Moving on, Part 1:  Personally, it’s been a much easier week than I’ve had in quite some time.

The past three weeks were insane, what with grades, huge assignments in my class, and all the rest. I must say that one of the great challenges of all of it was keeping the DN going.

For a while, I thought I would have to throw the good ol’ DN off to the side of the road in order to get everything done that needed to be done.

As always, I would finish everything at the end of each night, and when I would finally get to the DN, it was much like settling in with a kind old friend.

We have those things in life that are simply safety valves.

I have no idea what drives all this piffle, especially when I measure it in coffeespoons.

Probably because the DN goes out to every generation who ever spent time in the Theatre.

Some sorta common denominator. I honestly rarely think it has much to do with me personally.

  It’s a part of everyone’s glorious past.

And the more I move into the future, the more I love the past.

Not living there, mind you, but there’s something comforting about having something from which we can measure things.

Ah, anyway, it sorta keeps us all a tad grounded, and that just ain’t a bad thing in a world that seems to be a runaway train.

I think we all need places where we can stay in touch with who we are.

  Something like that.

Anyway, I’m glad that somehow I managed to keep this little glow going.

And now it’s almost baseball season again.

Moving on, Part the Second: This is a tough one. I’ve been invited to join another school to run their drama program. This time it looks like a VERY sincere invite. My initial reaction is, of course, not to go there. I’ve finally got everything I ever wanted in this business, including massive improvement in the classroom.

Still, it’s tempting beyond words, since it’s virtually been handed to me on a platter.

  Yeesh.

  Thank goodness for weekends.

Speaking of which, have yourself an awesome one, willya? LIft a glass to good times.

  See ya soon!

  Peace.
