So…Earle H. Hagen walks into a bar…
Okay, so NOBODY knows who Earle H. Hagen is.
Except MAYBE Mrs. Earle H. Hagen, or MAYBE Earle H. Hagen, Jr.
Okay.
Earle H. Hagen is the whistler of the theme song on the old Andy Griffith Show.
Now this is the fun part: If you are aware of the whistling in the Andy Griffith Show, it begins with a solo whistler and moves into a duet mid-song.
I challenged Helene years ago to whistle the melody and that I would come in and do the harmony.
Never happened. It can’t be done without laughing.
That became our theory years ago.
I claim that nobody could do it, and I believe that the only guy who could was probably the guy who did it originally, and now even he can’t .
I know, I know.
But try it. A lot of people know that song, and a LOT of people know how it harmonizes, so my challenge to you is this: find a partner, whistle the Andy Griffith song, and see if you could harmonize the whole song.
Without laughing.
It’s a great game, and impossible to do.
Some fun.
It’s Wednesday already.
If you spend any amount of time tonight trying to whistle the harmony and melody to the Andy Griffith Show, especially with a partner, you will find yourself laughing uncontrollably.
We have Earle H. Hagen to thank.
That’s it.
Thanks Earle, for all the laughs.
Peace.
