  Sometimes life just works.

  Ah, yes.

Opening night totally rocked. We had a few technical glitches, and more than our share of Opening Night jitters, but the audience seemed quite forgiving, and the bottom line is that the Drama Workshop is officially back!

The Show sailed along with lots of fun and hope.

Things slowed at the end, but the opening night audience seemed really receptive to all of it; I saw lots of smiles on the faces of audience members.

And when it was through, people danced on the stage, and laughed and talked. Sound familiar?

I got home REALLY late so I think I’ll just fill in some space here, until I decide to retire for the evening.

  Do-de-do.

Well, let’s just keep this one short.

Go to the play, and I’ll be a happy camper.

The play runs tonight and tomorrow night, and then next Thursday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. Feel free to bring a friend, or even a group of friends.

During pre-set last night, I looked around and saw an entire new group of Drama Workshop kids, enthusiastic, practicing lines, hugging, bonding, and enjoying the little things: looking up at the MOSCOW sign under the clock, which, instead of saying 7:55 last night, said 5:12, and the little tiny second hand trying to make its way around the clock; I saw kids playing cards to relax, and just walking across the stage in the silhouette of Jose’s colorful back wall, as Carol King’s live CD played behind them.

When we joined hands under the clock, I spoke of the miracle that was happening before me. Two months ago, I thought we had seen the last Drama Workshop production, and suddenly, last night, there we all were, in a circle, the same as ever, listening to inspirational words from the directors, listening to last minute notes, stretching, the passing of the handshake, and finally, the hokey pokey followed by “Wish-me-luck; the-same to you” hugs.

  And I won’t forget.

Go to the Show. If for nothing else, just for that.

  We survived.

  Long live the Drama Workshop.

Have a great weekend. Throw the love out to these kids!
