1   Well, like the new crib?

2    I do. I tend to do well with Xanga, and I will continue to
keep the DN going on this venue. To me, it's a major trade
up!! I can now get pics on this thing, and enjoy the comment
column. It's a nice new place, all shiny and spiffed up.

3    To my Xanga crowd, a brief history. In the Spring of 1996,
we put on the classic musical Guys and Dolls, which was a
lot of fun, and a lot of work. Our motto was, "work hard,
play hard." So we took our own advice and had a ball.

4     It was a really fun experience, and at the time, the
Performing Arts Department at YB had three teachers:
Shawna Fleming, Ken Ponticelli, and myself. The PA
building was every bit as active as the current ASB, so
I began posting The Daily News in the hallway. I did this
nearly every single day until recently, when geocities
           became impossible and useless.

5     The DN became like a morning cup of coffee to everyone,
as I would have musings, ramblings, as well as letting
everyone know what was playing around town.  I would
also give my slant on what was hot in the news.  I
eventually built the Drama Workshop website and created
an online DN, and THEN sent it out to alumni so they
could stay informed. The DN eventually made it across
the world, and has reached ex-students who are all over
the place, including Oregon, New York, Turkey, Spain,
            even Iraq!

6      But I was running out of space on geocities, and no matter
what I would try to do, it was pretty useless. Upgrading
seemed impossible. It's a long story, but in the past two
weeks I have been exploring alternate areas to link the
DN. I then thought, "Why not Xanga? Isn't the DN really
one of the first Xangas anyway?"

    7      And so, viola!

8      Ladies and Gents, The Daily News, first Xanga edition!

9      Yesterday Ms. Hooper brought in the High Notes music
festival, which brought bands, orchestras, and choirs from
as far away as Fresno to perform in the Theatre, and then
they would go to Great America for a day in the sun. The
music festival netted the band and choir $1100!! So our
major thanks go out to all the kids who helped, and
            especially to Ms. Hooper!

10   The two of us FINALLY had a chance to sit in the shade
and talk about next year. Looks like the Choir is going
to be pretty huge, and will have GUYS! We discussed the
possiblity of doing a MUSICAL next year, and as of right
now, it looks good!!!  Our goal is to get the PA Department
numbers way back up, and I may even get back to the PA
office, and even POST the DN again!! Happy days!!!

11  That's it for today, a very special edition of the Daily News!

    12   Late.
